Hey everyone,
Have you heard about the latest buzz in the world of politics? A guy named Victor Miller from Cheyenne, Wyoming, decided to shake things up by running for mayor. But here’s the twist: he’s not running himself—he’s running an AI bot named VIC!
Yep, you read that right. An AI mayor candidate. Let’s dive into this wild story and see what it means for us.
The VIC-torious Journey (Or Not)
Victor Miller works at a library in Laramie County and has always been big on public records and AI. Frustrated with how the government handles things, he figured, “Why not let an AI give it a shot?” So, he created VIC, a Virtual Integrated Citizen, hoping it could bring transparency and efficiency to the local government.
But just as things were heating up, OpenAI pulled the plug on his account. They said political campaigning was against their policies, leaving Miller in a bit of a pickle. Despite this setback, Miller remains optimistic and is pushing forward with his mission.
A Sci-Fi Dream or a Dystopian Nightmare?
This whole situation got me thinking about the world we live in and the world we’re heading towards. This will be familiar to those of you that have read my novel: Nova Prime: Tyranny’s Demise. The idea of AI being used in government seems like a page straight out of my book.
On one hand, AI could be a game-changer. Imagine a government free from human error, bias, and corruption. AI could process data faster, make decisions based on facts, and provide clear, transparent governance. Current leaders regular Joe’s that don’t necessarily have any special knowledge about handling big budgets, and they are asked to make decisions about industries they know nothing about. An AI would have the benefit of being an expert in all fields it was set to govern. It sounds like a dream come true, right?
But let’s not forget the flip side. Can an AI truly understand the complexities of human emotions and societal issues? And who’s responsible if an AI messes up? Plus, there’s the fear of AI taking over jobs and the potential for those in power to manipulate these systems for their gain. Politics also provides a release valve for those with a drive for power. Where will those desires drive them if there isn’t a productive outlet?
What Do You Think?
This is where I turn to you, my awesome readers. What’s your take on this? Do you think an AI mayor could be the solution to our political woes, or are we flirting with a dystopian disaster?
Share your thoughts in the comments. Let’s get a conversation going. Are we heading towards the world of Nova Prime, or could this be a fresh start for politics? I can’t wait to hear what you all think!
